But the Spartans, from Maui, who had 18 turnovers and eight assists still beat the Warriors 51-42 on Wednesday at Kalani High on Oahu.
Keanu Huihui scored 13 points, and Maela Honma added 12 points for the BIIF runner-up Warriors (7-4), who shot 33% and committed 14 turnovers and had eight assists. Sarah Schubert scored nine points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
Leela Waterford scored 16 points for the Spartans (6-2), who outscored the Warriors 17-5 in the second quarter to take a 24-10 halftime cushion.
Sacred Hearts crushed Honokaa 71-35 at Kalani High’s gym, after taking a commanding 46-11 halftime cushion.
Kristen Ragasa scored 22 points on 8 of 15 shooting, and Rylee Velazquez added 11 points for the Dragons, who shot 36%, including 2 of 9 from long distance.
Kamehameha (7-4) next plays Honokaa (2-6), the BIIF’s No. 3 team, in consolation at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Kalani High’s gym.
