Edith Kapule Kahoalii, 94, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 12 at home. Born in Wailuku, Maui, she was a retired library technician at the University of California, Davis, Health Sciences Library and worked part-time at JCPenney, Uniglobe Southland Travel in Hayward, Calif., she was a member of Na Wai Puna O Kona, past member of Ke Ola Pono No Na Kupuna, Alu Like Kona, O Ka‘ahumanu Wahine Ali‘i Ahahui of Hayward, Calif., and Kaniohale Community Association Board of Directors. Private graveside services at Kona Memorial Park. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by children, Richard (Deanna) Kahoalii Jr of Davis, Calif., LaVerne (Walter) Quinones of Kailua-Kona, and Eric (Sharron) Kahoalii of San Leandro, Calif.; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Fredista Duropan Manuel, 82, of Pahoa died Feb. 6 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Banna, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was a papaya farmer and member of Resurrection Church/Church of the Holy Apostles. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Monday (Feb. 28) at Church of the Holy Apostles in Hilo. Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section. Masayoshi Nishimori, 88, of Paauhau died Jan. 24 at North Hawaii Community Hospital in Waimea. Born in Paauhau, he was a retired journeyman mechanic for the former Hamakua Sugar Co., maintained golf carts at Waimea Country Club and was a member and president of Hamakua Jodo Mission.
