Police arrested a 64-year-old Hilo man this morning after he turned himself in on a bench warrant after indictment for 23 counts of sex assault involving minors.
The indictment involves sexual acts with two minors that occurred from September 2014 to January 2018.
Paul Kanaina Kaelemakule Caitano of Hilo turned himself at the Hilo Police Station after being notified of the outstanding warrant. He was charged for 13 counts of third-degree sexual assault, eight counts of first-degree sexual assault, and two counts of continuous sexual assault of a minor under the age of 14.
Caetano’s bail was set at $500,000 and he was set to appear today in Hilo Circuit Court.
