Police are investigating a hit-and-run traffic collision this morning in Hilo that injured a 64-year-old woman.
According to police, officers responded to a 7:59 a.m. report near the corner of Ululani and Hualalai Streets. They learned a woman pedestrian, 64-year-old Carrie Ikawa, was outside her parked 2018 Ford pickup truck on Hualalai Street when she was struck by a white northbound sport-utility vehicle.
Police say Ikawa, who sustained multiple injuries, was taken to Hilo Medical Center in critical condition, and later airlifted to The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu for further treatment.
Witnesses were interviewed, and police determined the SUV was a 2013 Ford Explorer registered to 47-year-old Camille Boyce. Officers contacted Boyce and recovered the SUV.
