Herbert S. Watanabe, 93, of Hilo died Feb. 21 in Honolulu. Born in Wailuku, Maui, he was the former chairman of the state Board of Education and a former president of the Waiakea Lions Club. Visitation to be held 4-5:30 p.m. Saturday (May 28) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel following a special service by the Waiakea Lions Club.
