Bernaldo Randall Evangelista, 61, of Captain Cook died April 29 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, he was a music and Japanese language teacher at Kealakehe Intermediate School, director of the West Hawaii County Band, former music director at St. Joseph Catholic Church, former band director at Waiakea Intermediate School, former chorus teacher at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute in North Carolina, former member of the UH-Hilo Repertory Singers, soloist for Kona Choral Society, music director for Aloha Theater productions, member of the UH-Hilo Chamber Singers and musician at multiple churches. Visitation 8-9:30 a.m. Thursday (June 2) at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo. Memorial Mass at 9:30 a.m. Casual attire. Face masks and social distancing required.
