A fire Thursday morning destroyed a single-family home in Kailua-Kona.
According to a written Hawaii Fire Department statement, nine units responded to the 9:33 a.m. alarm with the first unit arriving on scene at 76-6187 Alii Drive eight minutes later.
Arriving firefighters found the structure — which, according to bystanders had no known occupants — fully engulfed in flames, with the possibility of the fire spreading to dwellings to both the north and south.
Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading, with the blaze reported under control at 9:47 a.m. and extinguished at 9:52 a.m.
Property damages were an estimated $315,000, with no property value saved. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Fire Inspector.
