John Herbert Honl, 92, of Kailua-Kona died May 15 at Kona Community Hospital. Born on Kauai, he was owner and skipper of Kakina sport fishing boat, Waikiki beach boy, outdoorsman, fisherman, diver, hunter, antique collector, Punahou School alumnus, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary veteran, member of the Outrigger Canoe Club,Hawaii Big Game Fishing Club, Historical Bottle Collectors Club and Big Island Volkswagen Club. Anthony Paul Sampaia, 59, of Pepeekeo, formerly of Las Vegas, died May 23 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Makapala, North Kohala, he was a fuel distribution systems worker at Bradshaw Army Airfield, U.S. Army National Guard retiree, worked at the former Kohala Sugar Co., Hawi Sacred Heart Church choir director, Lions Club president and community steward.
