Kohala is calling everyone with connections to the isolated northern district to its 3-day Kohala Reunion over the Fourth of July weekend.
The giant homecoming takes place every five years – this is the fifth although postponed for two years by the pandemic. Families of North Kohala residents, former and current residents and everyone with connections to the district are invited to celebrate the rich history of the area with music, local foods, tours and exhibits.
Kohala ‘Aina Ha’aheo — Kohala land of the proud — is the motto for the events scheduled from July 2-4 at Kamehameha Park in Kapa‘au.
Times are 10 a.m.- 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, and Sunday, July 3, and from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on the Fourth of July. Daily hula and musical performances, exhibits, lectures, demonstrations, as well as guided tours of historical places will connect to Kohala.
