A 22-year old Hilo man has been charged with attempted second-degree murder, second-degree assault and terroristic threatening in connection with a stabbing that occurred Tuesday on the grounds of the Church of the Holy Apostles on Kapiolani Street in Hilo.
Bail for Tchok Atario, aka Jok Atario, was set at $270,000. He’ss scheduled to make his initial appearance today in Hilo District Court.
According to County Prosecutor Kelden Waltjen, the weapon in the assaault and attempted murder was a pair of scissors, although the victim was also allegedly threatened with a knife.
The victim, according to Waltjen, is female.
The most serious offense, attempted second-degree murder is punishable by a life term of imprisonment with the possibility of parole upon conviction.
