For some of us, deciding who to vote for is challenging, especially for the primary election, this year on Aug. 13.
A key source of information is the League of Women Voters website. Once you enter your address, it gives you a listing of positions for which you can vote, plus a listing of the candidates who have filed to run for office.
If the candidates have provided information regarding their background and responses to several questions, you can compare their answers.
The site is truly a helpful voter guide, as it also provides information and/or contact information on the absentee ballot process, the primary election process, election dates, and other pertinent topics.
Do check out the website, https://www.vote411.org, and then vote in both the primary and general elections.
Do share the VOTE411 site information with relatives and friends who live in other states, as the LWV site applies to all 50 states.

Name-calling
Sometimes, I’m glad I don’t know.
Being a member of the “educated liberal elite,” sometimes I just can’t keep track of all the derogatory terms I’m apparently guilty of.
Recently categorized as a lib-tarded wonk because of my woke viewpoints, I needed a clarification, so I asked a friend who is a licensed psychotherapist for help.
Neither of us knew what wonk meant, but we both suspected it was an acronym. We think that it might have something to do with being politically educated. Doesn’t sound like a bad thing.
Next we tried to figure out
what woke meant. Neither of us was quite sure, but it did sound like it
could be a positive thing. Seems woke would be much better than being asleep.
I might’ve felt bad about being insulted, if I had a clue as to what I was being accused of.
Later, in conversation with a well-educated high school science teacher, we came to the same inconclusive answer.
None of us knew, and it wasn’t worth our time or energy to find out.
Fear anger and hatred are the values of conservatives today. The vast majority of those “educated liberal elites” don’t buy into it.
Name-calling is so sixth grade.
My answer is to tell them if you’re so upset, “just light your hair on fire and run down the hallway screaming.” It’s just as productive as your current strategy. (Hint, don’t try this at home).
If you haven’t noticed, today’s political divisiveness is absolutely purposeful.
It is designed to divide us.
United we stand, divided we fall.
Just ask our enemies.
