Born in Hoolehua, Molokai, she was a retired Waimea Elementary and Intermediate School teacher and member of Kamuela Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, Buddhist Women’s Association, Japanese-American Civic Association, Hawaii State Teachers Association-Retired, National Education Association, Hawaii Education Association and Delta Kappa Gamma Society International.
