To the rescue
A few days ago, I was completing a power walk along Hawaiian Paradise Park’s Paradise Ala Kai Drive.
A pair of senior cyclists passed by I had not noticed before. The road ahead had a modest rise. The cyclists disappeared from sight, and suddenly yelling and shouting was heard.
One of them was crashed in the middle of the road at a “T” intersection. He had incurred a shoulder separation.
An approaching resident driver stopped her car immediately to shield the cyclist and direct other traffic away. The two adjacent neighbors appeared immediately to offer assistance.
The uninjured cyclist and myself gingerly lifted up his wounded companion and found him a stable place to sit down. The resident driver offered use of her vehicle to drive the functional cyclist to his nearby residence so he could secure his own vehicle and pick up his wounded companion.
Their bikes were temporarily secured by one of the neighbors.
None of us were medical personnel. However, we strongly recommended the injured cyclist be taken to a medical facility immediately to have his shoulder reset.
It was an honor to join the experience of ohana in action!

Boot the Army
It’s time to kick the Army off the island.
The latest fire shows their stewardship capability, as artillery and bombs do tend to start fires.
And when it burns depleted uranium lying on the ground from the ‘60s, we are all exposed to this dangerous, cancer-causing substance.
Do you know that after the Army trained with depleted uranium up there, we had a huge spike in birth defects? We can’t prove the connection, but it sure looks suspicious to me. Many ex-Army officers can attest to the cancer it has caused.
Let them destroy the training areas in New Mexico or Nevada. I don’t understand why the Native Hawaiians have picked the Thirty Meter Telescope as their rally point, not Pohakuloa Training Area.
