Dr. William “Biff” Joseph Kennedy Jr., 84, of Hilo died Aug. 24 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. He was a retired licensed professional engineer, U.S. Navy and Naval Reserves veteran, taught math at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School and industrial engineering at the University of Utah, Clemson University and U.S. Military Academy West Point, served as an electrician for Habitat for Humanity in Oconee County, S.C. and on the county Library Board, was a member of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers, earned degrees from Whitman College, Washington State, U.S. Naval Postgraduate School and Virginia Tech, and was a member of the Church of the Holy Cross and a Rotarian in Hilo and South Carolina. Visitation 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Church of the Holy Cross, 440 W. Lanikaula St. Celebration of life at 2 p.m. Social distancing to be observed. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts).
