The Christmas Extravaganza Craft Fair is back in-person this year and will feature more than 80 vendors selling thousands of handmade items.
After two years of virtual craft shows due to the pandemic, the 33rd annual Extravaganza is back at the Edith Kanaka‘ole Multi-Purpose Stadium in Hilo from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m to 3 p.m. Saturday.
“We have many new vendors this year, and we’re all excited to be back,” said organizer Kim Sasaki. “During the pandemic, there were some regular vendors that decided to retire, and then there were many people that developed their side hustles and opened businesses.”
Sasaki expects over 20 new vendors at the craft fair, which only sells handmade items from around the state.
“We try to have a little of everything, since we have a diverse crowd that comes to the fair. We have a lot more new things to look forward to since the pandemic helped produce so many up-and-coming vendors,” Sasaki said. “Our vendors are so ready to be back, and we’re hoping everyone is excited to start buying for Christmas.”
Due to the amount of people expected to attend, the Extravaganza will require shoppers to wear face masks to enter. Entry costs $2; free admission for keiki 12 and under.
The Manono Street Marketplace also will be hosting its Holiday Craft Fair today and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dozens of small businesses and vendors will be selling their wares outside the businesses at the marketplace.
“We have some amazing vendors coming that are offering great deals on their unique items,” said organizer Gina Hara Chun. “There will be so many perfect gifts for people of all ages. It also helps to come both days, since some vendors will only be there one day.”
The Manono Street Marketplace will host a second Christmas Craft Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, and Saturday, Dec. 10.
The marketplace is located at 681 Manono St. in Hilo.
