The inaugural ceremony for the nine newly elected Hawaii County Council members is scheduled for noon Monday, Dec. 5, at Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium in Hilo.

The public is invited to the free ceremony. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. with music and hula.

Speakers will be Mayor Mitch Roth, Council Chair-elect Heather Kimball and Council Vice Chair-elect Holeka Inaba.

Third Circuit Chief Judge Robert D.S. Kim will administer the oath of office to all council members, and the emcee will be Ku‘ehu Mauga.
