Joy B. Pruitt (née Joy Pruitt-Joseph), 77, of Hilo died Dec. 5. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a speech pathologist at Hilo Medical Center, Head Start, Easter Seals, the state Department of Education, Hawaii Care Choices — where she was on the Board of Directors — nd in private practice. She also was an active member of state and national speech and hearing associations, as well as several local health related clubs.
