Wataru Kohashi, 100, of Hilo, died Nov. 26 at J&K Care Home in Keaau. Born in Keaukaha, he was a Hilo High School Graduate, an Infantry Sergeant in the 442nd Regimental Combat Team twice wounded in World War 2, and a retired HELCO millwright foreman. Private service to be held at a later date. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by daughters Lois (Mickey) Sinclair of Port Ludlow, Wash., and Julia (Francis) Zee of Hilo; son Owen (Miky Ishida) Kohashi of Seattle; six grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Shigeko “Peggy” Hatayama, 92, of Mountain View, died Nov. 25 at Hilo Medical Center.
