Dr. John Pierre Charlot, 81, of Mountain View died Oct. 18 at a private care home in Hilo. He was an emeritus professor of Hawaiian and Polynesian religion at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Private services held. Survived by son, David (Denise) Charlot of New Hampshire; daughter, Priscilla Charlot of North Carolina; brother, Martin Charlot of Pahoa; sister, Anne Charlot of Florida; four grandchildren. Born in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan, Philippines, he was retired from Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council and was a Philippine Army World War II veteran. Visitation 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Wake service at 6 p.m. Visitation again 8:30-9:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima section. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Natividad Andrada of Hilo; son, Amadito (Lenita) Andrada; daughters, Clarita German, Magda (Danilo) Castasus, Gloria (Antonio) Inocencio, Marina (Josue) Agustin, Angela (Glenn) Yazaki, Angelita (Roland) Macaraeg and Hilda (Romeo) Rabang; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces.
