Hawaii County will host its quarterly Revitalize Puna community event on Saturday.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in-person at Billy Kenoi Park gym in Pahoa.
Residents are invited to drop by the open house style event, which will include food trucks, keiki crafts and free meal vouchers while supplies last. The event also will feature live music and entertainment.
“Our seventh activation is going to be our best ever,” said Ashley Kierkiewicz, District 4 council member, in a press release. “Not only will we have updates on the latest infrastructure projects, but we’re going to have so many opportunities for residents to connect with each other and government officials.”
County, state and federal leaders will be on hand to provide updates about efforts to recover from the 2018 Kilauea eruption in lower Puna, and speak about challenges and opportunities for the area.
The event will feature booths where residents can connect with the various “resilience capacity areas” and learn how they can contribute to various “resilience commitment” projects. Representatives from the state Department of Land and Natural Resources also will be on hand to provide an update about the restoration of Pohoiki Boat Ramp.
Attendees are encouraged to register at https://revitalizepuna7.eventbrite.com.
