Warmer, wetter
This is Regarding “Carbon bills deferred” (Your Views, Feb. 21).
Good! A warmer and wetter planet with rising ocean levels, leading to an ice-free planet that slows down the sequestering of carbon by sea life (which is a threat to all life on Earth) is an improved world.
No scientist will argue that the biosphere is more friendly to life in general when it is locked in an Ice Age, as we currently still are. What we need to be protected from is the wasteful spending to try to fight Mother Nature as the waters rise. It can’t be done — not with “sea walls,” not with carbon taxes, etc.
We do know how to build structures and communities that are protected from wind and rain (i.e., storms), and the coasts are the last place we want to be trying to do this because they are the front line of most storms.
Spend the money on new communities, and seven out of eight of you in the world should thank God for the Industrial Revolution and all that came with it. You would not be alive without it. World population had been stable for thousands of years at about one billion people before all the bad science and carbon came into play.
Almost everything people value about their “modern lives” is the result of the changes that period brought. The carbon economy has not destroyed the future, it has made the future possible as the future of a developed world.
Now we see we will have a warmer and wetter world, a greener world, as it has been before when there were no ice caps at the poles or massive glaciers.
Build me a city I can live in. Great, I’ll pay for that!
Try to save the coastal rich landlords from the rising waters? Not a penny of my money should go to that!

Bus stop
When will our bus stop shelter, located across Iwasaki Camp in Kurtistown be repaired?
It’s been over eight months since a car accident demolished it.
People (riders) in that area actually use the shelter to stay out of the elements (rain, wind).
