The nonprofit Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center will host a free talk on March 16 as part of its “Finding Solutions, Growing Peace” brown bag lunch series.
These talks are on the third Thursday of each month from noon to 1 p.m. via Zoom.
This month’s speaker is Marina Piscolish, who will discuss “The power of The Pause: A practical tool for conflict resolvers.”
“Asking ourselves and others to face highly emotional conflicts in a calm and conscious way is often a superhuman request,” Piscolish said in a press release. “Utilizing a powerful best practice called ‘The Pause’ can help us uncover deeper needs.”
In this talk, she’ll connect conflict resolution skills to the emerging brain science about the body’s response to stress, perceived threat and conflict, and how mindfulness can mitigate those effects.
Marina Piscolish, Ph.D. is founder of MAPping Change, which helps individuals, teams and organizations navigate conflict, collaboration and change.
She served at Pittsburgh Mediation Center as a mediator, trainer and board member and created the Conflict Resolution Program at the University of Delaware. A resident of Oahu for 25 years, Marina has served as adjunct faculty at the University of Hawaii’s Matsunaga Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution.
Ku‘ikahi’s brown bag lunch series is free and open to the public.
Attendees are encouraged to enjoy an informal and educational talk-story session and connect with others interested in “Finding Solutions, Growing Peace.”
