HILO — The 63rd Annual Haili Volleyball Tournament concluded Saturday with the championship rounds of its adult divisions.
Adult tournament play began Thursday, with competitors divided into seven divisions based on gender, age and skill level.
The Men’s AA division championship was won by Unko’z Fishing, which defeated Hemolele AA 25-8 and 25-23. Unko’z Fishing went undefeated for the tourney in both matches and sets — going 6-0 in matches and 12-0 in sets. Hemolele AA’s record concluded at 4-3 in matches and 9-8 in sets.
KVAC defeated Vibes in two 25-16 set victories during the Women’s AA championship. KVAC also went 6-0 overall, and 12-1 in sets. Vibes finished the tournament with a 5-2 match record and 10-5 set record.
In the Men’s A championship, Hawaiian Dreamers beat Restless Natives 25-18 and 26-24. Both teams played in combined Men’s A and Men’s AA tournament play prior to the championship. Dreamers went 2-3 in matches and 4-6 in sets, and Restless Natives finished 0-5 in matches and 0-10 in sets.
Keaukaha Tidahz won 25-16 and 25-19 over Ho‘Opa Hawai‘i in the Women’s A championship. Keaukaha’s match record was 6-1 and its set record was 12-3. Ho‘Opa finished at 6-2 and 13-4.
All Attitude-Buggy and Aloha Days battled for three sets in the Men’s B championship, resulting in a All Attitude victory — which won 25-23, then lost 25-21 and came back in the third set with a 25-18 win. All Attitude-Buggy went 7-0 in matches and 13-2 in sets, while Aloha Days went 6-3 and 14-5.
The Women’s B championship also saw a close, three-set scrap — between Restless Natives and No Pressure. Restless Natives won in a sweep by scores of 28-26, 25-23 and 25-22 — cementing its final records at 7-1 and 16-2. No Pressure finished 5-1 and 11-5.
In the Women’s Masters championship, Haili Masters 30 defeated Haili Masters 45 by scores of 25-19 and 25-20. The Men’s Masters championship saw Big Island Boys beat Big Island Roots 25-15, then lose 25-23 and bounce back 15-8.
