Daggers win three straight matches
Pahoa High School’s boys varsity volleyball team tallied home sweeps on Wednesday night, Thursday night and Saturday morning.
On Wednesday, the Daggers defeated Makua Lani Christian by set scores of 25-10, 25-17 and 25-15.
The following night, Ka‘u High School visited Pahoa and the Daggers notched another sweep — with set wins of 25-14, 25-16 and 25-11.
Vladimir Fedoruk led the Trojans in kills with four — and Tyson Junior Kuahuia-Faafia recorded three blocks, two kills and an ace.
Saturday morning, Pahoa made it a hattrick with a sweep over St. Joseph — 25-13, 26-16 and 25-11.
The Daggers are among the top standings of BIIF Division II, alongside Konawaena and Hawai‘i Prep.
Pahoa will host its next test at 5 p.m. Tuesday against Christian Liberty Academy. Ka‘u will also play Tuesday evening, against St. Joseph at the Hilo Armory.
Waveriders
fall to Wildcats
The Konawaena High School boys varsity volleyball team beat Kealakehe High School in the fifth set of a home match Thursday night.
The Wildcats got a leg up with a first-set win of 25-21, then edged the Waveriders 27-25 in set two to establish a 2-0 lead.
Kealakehe fought back with two straight set wins of their own, 25-22 in the third and 25-23 in the fourth.
In the fifth set, Konwaena notched its largest set victory margin of the match — winning 15-10.
This match was an add-on, meaning that it will not affect the standing of either team. The Wildcats play in BIIF Division II while the Waveriders play in Division I.
Konwaena will play away at 6 p.m. tomorrow against St. Joseph at the Hilo Armory.
At 5 p.m. Wednesday, Kealakehe will host Kamehameha Schools – Hawaii.

Canefire volleyball sweeps Seasiders
Laupahoehoe’s varsity volleyball team fell 3-0 to Christian Liberty Academy on Friday evening.
The Canefire won 25-11, 25-16 and edged the Seasiders 27-25 to end the match.
CLA’s Judah Shrinski and Caleb Vogt dominated the front line with ten kills and six kills, respectively.
Lawson Deleon accounted for 22 assists.
Both teams will hit the court again Tuesday, with Laupahoehoe hosting Ka ‘Umeke and CLA traveling to Pahoa.
HPA over
Kanu ‘O Ka‘aina
Hawai‘i Preparatory Academy’s boys volleyball team swept Kanu ‘O Ka‘Aina’s coed team 25-18, 25-13 and 25-20 at a home, varsity matchup Friday night.
The pair will be back in action tomorrow afternoon.
HPA will host Parker at 5 p.m. and Kanu will play away at Honokaa High School at the same time.
