Queen’s North Hawaii Community Hospital has several college scholarship opportunities available.

The Peggy Dineen-Orsini Scholarship offers $2,000 to a resident of Hawaii County who is enrolled in or accepted for enrollment in a National League of Nursing accredited program in Hawaii or on the mainland.

Private donors fund this scholarship in memory of Peggy Dineen-Orsini, who was a registered nurse at Queen’s North Hawaii Community Hospital from 1996 to 2004, remembered for her compassion.

The hospital’s medical staff is offering two $1,000 scholarships to Hawaii County residents who demonstrate financial need and are currently enrolled in a program to obtain a health care profession degree.

Hawaii Emergency Physicians Associated is offering a $3,000 scholarship to a graduating high school student who demonstrates financial need and who without assistance would have no opportunity to attend college.

Applications and instructions are available online at www.nhch.com (see News) or call the fund development office at (808) 881-4420. Completed applications and required documents must be received or postmarked by April 30.
