The BIIF Division I and Division II volleyball semifinals concluded on Monday night.
DIVISION I
No.1 seed Kamehameha Schools – Hawai‘i swept No.4 Kealakehe High School at home to confirm its Championship berth and shot at a second straight BIIF DI title.
The Warriors crushed the Waveriders 25-8 in the first set — before KkHS came closer in the second set, which KSH won 25-22.
In the third set, the Warriors notched another dominant win — 25-13.
Sophomore hitter Kullen Pua was a commanding force on the front line with 11 kills for KSH — trailed by Nauhi Liwis with six kills. Mica Wana was well-rounded with five kills, two digs and an ace. On the back line, Kai Aiona-Agra had three aces and two digs.
Also on Monday night, No.2 seed Hilo High School swept No.3 Waiakea High School — securing the other Championship bid.
The Vikings prevailed in straight sets of 25-21, 25-19 and 25-20.
Hilo and KSH will face off in the Championship, which will begin at 7 p.m. tonight at Konawaena High School.
Regardless of the outcome of the Championship, both Hilo and KSH will receive bids in the HHSAA Division I State playoff bracket.
State playoffs will be held May 11-13th across several high schools on O‘ahu.
DIVISION II
DII Championship berths were also slated on Monday night.
No.1 seed Pahoa High School swept No.4 Kohala High School at home.
The Daggers won in sets of 25-19, 25-18 and 25-14.
On the West side of the island, No.2 Konawaena High School swept No.3 Hawai‘i Prep — winning 25-21, 25-19 and 25-15.
Konawaena will host Pahoa for the Championship at 5:30 p.m. tonight and look to win its second straight BIIF DII title.
Both the Wildcats and Daggers have earned spots in the HHSAA DII State playoffs, which will also take place May 11-13th at several different high schools on O‘ahu.
