WAIMEA – The 2023 Putts for Paws four-person scramble golf tournament is slated for Saturday, July 1 at Mauna Lani Resort’s North Golf Course.
Money raised through the tournament will benefit the Hawaii Island Humane Society.
Check in begins at 8 am with a 9 am shotgun start. Lunch and an Awards Banquet follow at the Fairmont Orchid.
Competitors will have opportunities to win prizes, meet dogs between golf holes and enjoy refreshments.
“We are so thrilled to be hosting the Putts for Paws golf tournament again after a long hiatus,” said Hawaii Island Humane Society Chief Executive Officer Lauren Nickerson. “It will be the first time that we’re putting on the golf tournament since prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We’re looking forward to a beautiful day at Mauna Lani filled with long drives and short putts in celebration of the animals and in support of our lifesaving work on Hawaii Island.”

Hawaii Island Humane Society saves the lives of over 97% of the dogs, cats, and rabbits that come through its doors at the two lifesaving locations at the Keaau Shelter and in Kona at the Animal Community Center. Everyone who plays in the Putts for Paws Charity Golf Tournament will help the Hawaii Island Humane Society’s mission to prevent cruelty to animals, eliminate pet overpopulation and enhance the bond between humans and animals.
“Our animal friends deserve love, comfort and joy and we would like to do more. Your kokua helps to provide veterinary care, behavior support, enrichment, nutrition, adoption counseling transport, fostering and so much more,” said Lauren Nickerson.
