William Castro Jr., 87, of Hilo died May 31 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a baker at Hilo Medical Center and the former Hilo Hospital, member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and U.S. Navy veteran. Private services held. Survived by companion, Paul Martines of Hilo; sisters, Patricia (George) Iranon of Honolulu, Joyce (Rufus) Sonognini of Hilo and Rachel (Frank) Toddre of Las Vegas; nieces and nephews. Louis Sumani Cho Jr., 78, of Honaunau died July 14 at home. Born in Kealakekua, he was a retired maintenance man for Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park and a U.S. Army and Hawaii Army National Guard veteran. Mass at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, June 28 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Honaunau. Celebration of life to follow at Honaunau Beach lot across the boat ramp. Casual attire. Survived by daughter, Candace Napuaalohapoinaole (Eric) Kaneshiro of Aiea, Oahu; sister, Shirley Kauhaihao of Honaunau and Charlotte (Robert) Johnson of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; brother, Jerry (Daine) Cho of Oahu; four grandchildren; an uncle, nieces, nephews and cousins. Shauna Coree Perez, 43, of Mt. View, died on Monday, June 5, 2023 at a private care home in Keaau. She was born on April 27, 1980 in Trenton, Michigan. She was a licensed dispensing optician.
