Highway 11 by Whittington Beach Park in Ka‘u is reopened

UPDATE: Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) by Whittington Beach Park is open, according to police.

Police are asking motorists to avoid Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) by Whittington Beach Park, if possible, due to downed power lines on the road.

Both lanes of travel are currently closed. Old Canehaul Road is open as an alternate route.
