Back by popular demand, Big Island author Frances Kakugawa returns to Hawaii Island Adult Care to share insights and reflections through poetry and writing inspired by her caregiving experience with a mother with Alzheimer’s.
“Frances reminds us that both loved one and caregiver deserve compassion, respect and a life with dignity,” according to an announcement about the event.
Kakugawa was born in Kapoho and is an award-winning author of 17 books.
The event is titled “Caregiving: A World of Dignity and Compassion Through Poetry, Storytelling and Imagination.” It will be held at 10 a.m. this Saturday at Hawaii Island Adult Care, which is located at 561 Kupuna Place in Hilo.
This event is open to the public, and all caregivers are welcomed. Pupus and beverages will be provided. The event is free, although donations are welcomed.
Kakugawa’s books will be available for sale, provided by Basically Books.
