Kalei Rapoza has been named vice chancellor for administrative affairs for the University of Hawaii at Hilo, effective immediately.

He replaced Carla Ho‘a, who resigned from the position.

The announcement was made Friday by Chancellor Bonnie Irwin following the July 20 UH Board of Regents Meeting.

“We are indeed fortunate to have Kalei Rapoza join the senior leadership team as vice chancellor,” Irwin said. “His years of experience on campus and in the state will serve our campus well. I’m excited to get to work with our new team.”

Rapoza previously served as UH-Hilo’s interim vice chancellor for administrative affairs from 2017 to 2022.

His previous roles at UH included associate director of human resources from 2013 to 2016 and director of human resources from 2016 to 2017.

Most recently, Rapoza served as the UH-Hilo interim director of strategic initiatives and government affairs since January 2023.
