Hilo Higashi Hongwanji Mission will hold its Hatsu Bon (paying homage and remembering those members who passed away within the past 12 months) service at 6 p.m. Saturday at the temple, located at 216 Mohouli St.

A Bon dance will follow at 7 p.m. to celebrate this festivity.
Food items (andagi, hot dog, saimin, etc.) and refreshments will be available for purchase at the concession.
“Come early, and enjoy the various foods at the concession before it runs out,” said Stanley Takemura, Higashi chairman.
O-Bon is also a time to reunite with family and friends. Ura Bon (day after Obon) service will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13.
The public is welcomed to attend both services and the Bon dance for free.
Bon dance practice will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. this Thursday at the temple social hall.
