Douglas Joseph “Jo Jo” Arruda Sr., 78, of Keaau died July 30 at home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired millwright and supervisor for the former Hawaii Electric Light Co., U.S. Air Force veteran and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Wake service at 6 p.m. Visitation again 8:30-9:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass at 9:30 a.m. Burial with military honors to follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section. Survived by wife, Annette Arruda of Keaau; daughter, Roxanne (Delbert) Snedeker of Pahoa; son, Tyson L. David Kaahanui Keawemauhili Mortensen, 56, of Hilo died July 19 at home. Born in Kailua, Oahu, he was a structural ironworker, member of Local 625 Iron Workers Union, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Keaukaha Ward, and surfer, fisherman and U.S. Navy veteran.
