Hawaii Handweavers’ Hui show now open in Waimea

Handwoven textiles currently are on display at the Kahilu Theatre in Waimea.

This presentation features the works of members of the Big Island chapter of the Hawaii Handweavers’ Hui, and award-winning pieces from the juried HHH biennial show “Surrounded by Water” held in Honolulu recently.

The Kahilu Theatre gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, as well as during performances at the theatre.

The exhibit continues to Oct. 29.

The Hawaii Handweavers’ Hui celebrates its 70th anniversary this year as a nonprofit dedicated to encouraging and promoting excellence in hand weaving by bringing together weavers, spinners, dyers, fiber artists and educators who share the joy and passion of the fiber arts.

The Big Island Chapter began in 2010. Since 2021, the Hui has offered a wide array of fiber arts classes in its studio adjacent to the Downtown Art Center.
