Douglas Abran, 76, of Waimea, Kauai, formerly of Honokaa, died Aug. 8 at home. Born in Haina, he was a liliko tractor operator and factory mechanic for the former Hamakua Sugar Co., retired from the Kauai Lagoons Golf Course, was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran with the 101st Airborne Division, earning Bronze Star and Army Commendation medals for heroism. Vincent “Vinny” Senichi Okimoto Chang, 27, of Kealakekua died Aug. 15 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Kealakekua, he was an aquaculture technician for Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe at OTEC, member of Konawaena High School Class of 2013, Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, Akitsu Kumiai, Kona Boyz 4-H Club, ulua fisherman and community volunteer and supporter of several community organizations.
