Alfred Buan Abinosa, 87, of Las Vegas, died Aug. 15 in Las Vegas. Born in Hilo, he owned a Kona lawn-care business, did office work, worked on Kwajalein for a Texas company, was a U.S. Army veteran and 1955 graduate of Pahoa High School. Graveside service 7 a.m. Hawaii time Friday (Sept. 8) at Providence City Cemetery in Providence, Utah. A Zoom link to service will appear Thursday (Sept. 7) at www.Allenmortuaries.com. No flowers. Rocco Fred Banta Sr., 53, of Hilo died June 16 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a construction laborer. Services 9-11 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 9) at Ohana Church, 1967 Kinoole St., Hilo. A beach cruise will follow afterwards, followed by lunch. Survived by companion, Sophia Pacheco of Hilo; sons, Rocco Banta Jr. and Rockne Banta of Honolulu, Kyzer Rae Paglinawan of Hilo; daughters, Kayla Rae (Makana Keana‘aina) Paglinawan and Kysha Rae (Jorge Perez Jr.) Paglinawan of Kona, Kyla Rae Paglinawan of Honolulu; a granddaughter. Charise “Kapena“ U‘ilani Chai-Amaral, 32, of Hilo died May 27 in Dickinson, N.D. Born in Hilo, she was a former employee of McDonald’s in Dickinson and Zippy’s in IHOP of Hilo. Celebration of life gathering, 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 9) at Haili’s Tent in Panaewa. Casual attire; no flowers. Daisy Luhia Naihe, 89, of Hilo died Aug. 12 at home. Born in Kohala, she was an assistant dining room manager for the former Naniloa Hotel and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Keaukaha Ward. Sumie Ochiai Nii, 96, of Hilo died May 8 at home. Born in Hilo, she was an accounting and finance clerk at Hickam Air Force Base on Oahu and attended New Hope Hilo.
