After opening with three games on O’ahu, the UH-Hilo Women’s Basketball team will have six straight home events as part of 14 total contests held at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium for the 2023-24 season.

The Vulcans will open with an exhibition against the University of Hawai’i at Manoa on Nov. 1 before playing two games against Montana State Billings and Alaska Anchorage as part of the PacWest-GNAC Challenge in Honolulu.

The rest of the non-conference slate will include Multnomah, Northwest Indian College, Angelo State and Bridgewater State — the latter two of which will be part of the Big Island Holiday Classic in December.

From mid-January to mid-February, the Vulcans will enjoy nine contests with minimal travel staying both at home and hopping to O’ahu before returning later at the beginning of March to close out the regular season.

New to the Pacific West Conference this season will be Westmont College from Santa Barabara, California out of the NAIA’s Golden Sun Athletic Conference.

Holy Names University closed its doors at the conclusion of this past school year.

The six-team PacWest Championships are set for March 7-9 in San Diego, California at Point Loma Nazarene University.

David Kaneshiro enters his 14th season as UH-Hilo head coach.
