The weekend saw plenty of BIIF volleyball action, and new developments in the standings.
Ka‘u 3 – Laupahoehoe 0
Coming off of two straight victories to start their season, the Seasiders were routed by the visiting Trojans on Friday night.
Ka‘u crushed its host — winning in straight sets of 25-7, 25-6 and 25-4.
This was the Trojans’ second outing, and they now stand at 2-0. Ka‘u will play its next match at 6 p.m. today, at home against Kohala HS.
Also today, Laupahoehoe will look to regain some positive momentum — traveling down the coast to face Christian Liberty Academy.
Honoka‘a 3 – Saint Joseph 0
Also in DII action, the Cardinals suffered their third straight 3-0 loss Friday night as Honokaa notched its second victory.
SJS put up a good fight, but the Dragons won in sets of 25-22, 25-19 and 25-19 again.
Now 2-1, Honoka‘a will return to its home court Tuesday to host Kanu ‘o ka ‘Aina Charter (5 p.m. start).
The Cardinals will fight to finally enter the win collumn on Wednesday night, when they host Ka Umeke at the Hilo Armory (6 p.m. start).
Hilo 3 – Waiakea 1
The Vikings overcame the Warriors to obtain their first win of the season on Friday night.
After Waiakea won the first set 25-18, Hilo kept ahead — winning 25-17, 25-23 and 25-21.
The Vikings’ record is now 1-1, and they will play two matches this week — hosting Kealakehe at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, and traveling to Kea‘au on Thursday (6 p.m. start).
The Warriors are 2-2, and will have just one match this week — away at Kamehameha Schools – Hawai‘i on Tuesday (6 p.m. start).
Hilo’s JV team also beat Waiakea, winning 2-0 in sets of 25-10 and 25-22.
