A police log identified a suspect arrested in a non-fatal shooting incident Monday in Kailua-Kona as 40-year-old Shayne Kamuela Unea of Waimea.
Unea was reportedly taken into custody at about 7 p.m. Monday, and booked on suspicion of attempted second-degree murder, first-degree terroristic threatening, resisting an order to stop and driving after license suspended.
As of late Tuesday afternoon, Unea remained in custody, uncharged, at Kealakehe Police Station while detectives from the West Hawaii Criminal Investigation Section continued to investigate.
According to police, a Kona patrol officer was flagged down at about 11:30 a.m. Monday on Kaiminani Drive by a 35-year-old Waimea man.
The man reportedly told police he and another man had been shot at by a male suspect while the victims sat in a parked vehicle in the 73-4300 block of Laui Street. The victim also reported that the shooter was accompanied by other suspects who were allegedly driving gray and black Honda sedans.
Neither victim was injured by the alleged gunfire.
Police say officers immediately conducted area checks and found Unea on Ane Keohokalole Highway near the Kaiminani Drive intersection. He was taken into custody without incident.
