Fitness shouldn’t stop when it rains, especially in Hilo.

So, rain or shine, the first 100 people who show up at 8 a.m. to “Walk With a Doc” at Lili‘uokalani Gardens on Sunday, Oct. 1, will get a yellow AARP Hawaii/Walk With a Doc umbrella.

The weekly walks are free and promote healthy habits. Participants meet each Sunday at 8 a.m. near the Hilo Bay Café.

The umbrellas and a free snack will be available at the AARP Hawaii table at the start of the walk.

Dr. Karen Hallenbaugh will give a short talk about managing pain and inflammation before the walk begins.

People can walk at their own pace and join the group or walk on their own. Leashed pets are welcomed.
