Rowdy, a Hyacinth macaw, and Romeo, a Moluccan cockatoo, spend time Tuesday outside their habitats with their handlers, Jean Jasina and Dolores Coulson, who are volunteers with the Animal Enrichment Team at the Panaewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens. Rowdy and Romeo get “enrichment time” by greeting patrons, eating snacks and playing with toys beginning at 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. As Rowdy flaps his wings while being carried around the zoo, Romeo rides his custom-made skateboard and greets visitors.
