The 9th annual East Hawaii Jazz &Blues Festival will take place on Sunday, Oct. 29, at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel.
The festival features a “heavy” pupu buffet, wine tasting, no-host bar and nonstop music on multiple stages performed by some of Hawaii’s finest jazz and blues musicians, along with highly acclaimed artists from the mainland.
There will be nightly jazz performances at the Wai‘ole Lounge and the WSW Restaurant throughout the week, culminating with Black and White Night shows in Hilo town on Friday, Nov. 3.
The East Hawaii Jazz &Blues Festival is the signature fundraising event for The Hawaii Island Veterans Memorial.
The festival has helped raise awareness and resources necessary for HIVM to meet its mission of providing affordable housing and quality health facilities to Hawaii Island veterans.
HIVM has successfully pursued its housing initiative with a 92-unit senior affordable housing project near the University of Hawaii at Hilo. The $58 million independent living community is under construction in partnership with EAH Housing and is scheduled to be completed in late 2024.
The organization now is focused on developing a full-service medical facility in partnership with an established Hawaii-based medical group. This facility will be located just below the senior living community, and would provide much-needed work and office space for physicians and specialists to serve both military veterans and the larger community.
Tickets are $80 for general admission and $125 VIP and are available online at ehjazzbluesfest.com.
