As of Tuesday, the BIIF DII girls volleyball playoff bracket has been finalized.
Honoka‘a HS defeated Christian Liberty Academy 3-0 (25-13, 25-21 and 25-15) on Monday, securing the No. 7 berth and avoiding a potential three-way tie for the No. 8 seed.
However, there is still a tie for No. 8 — which will be decided by a tiebreaker match tonight.
St. Joseph School and Laupahoehoe CPCS each completed the regular season with 4-8 records and tied at No. 8, and will play against each other starting 6 p.m. tonight at the Seasiders’ home court.
The winner of the tiebreaker will enter the bracket at No. 8, and will face off against No. 5 Pahoa HS (8-4) in the tournament’s first round — 6 p.m. Saturday at Pahoa HS.
Meanwhile, the other first round matchup will see No. 6 Parker School (7-5) host No. 7 Honoka‘a HS (5-7) that same night.
The winner of the match at Pahoa will continue to the quarterfinals on Oct. 24, playing away at No. 4 Kohala (9-3). The winner of Parker versus Honoka‘a will play away that same night at No. 3 Konawaena (10-2).
No. Ka‘u (12-0) and No. 2 Hawai‘i Prep (11-1) will enter the tournament during the semifinal round, each hosting their match against winners of the previous rounds.
The final round will be played at the same night and venue as the BIIF DI championship — Saturday, Oct. 28 at Kamehameha Schools – Hawai‘i’s Koai‘a Gym. The DII match will begin at 5:30 p.m., with the DI match to follow.
The BIIF DI regular season will also conclude this week, with the remaining final playoff seedings decided by Friday morning. KSH has secured the No. 1 berth at 12-0 (as well as an automatic bid to the HHSAA DI state championship), but the other four standings and three playoff berths could shift based on this week’s results.
