Rosita Mamuad Balicoco, 92, of Keaau died Oct. 10 at home. Born in Dingras, Philippines, she was a nursery worker for Asian and Puna Flowers and member of Iglesia Ni Cristo Church of Christ in Keaau. Visitation 4-6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Service at 6 p.m. All-night vigil to follow at the family home in Keaau. Graveside service 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section. Survived by sons, Pedro (Rubilinda) Balicoco, Juanito Balicoco, Nestor (Imelda) Balicoco and Castor Balicoco of Pahoa; daughters, Estefania (Pariseo) Ganut and Corazon (Eddie) Hubag of Philippines, Cathy (Leonard) Balicoco of Hawaiian Paradise Park and Andrea B. Mary Ann Chester, 66, of Keaau died Oct. 18 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Fairbanks, Alaska, she was a teacher at Henry Opukahaia School, Haili Christian School, Pahoa High School and Christian Liberty Academy. Osamu Fujimoto, 92, of Hilo, formerly of Ninole, died Oct. 25 at a private care home in Hilo. Born in Molokai, he was a retired sugar cane planter. Private services held. Raymond Noboru Kunishi, 78, of Papaikou died Oct. 2 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pepeekeo, he was a retired county parks caretaker, member of Papaikou Hongwanji Mission, American Legion and National Rifle Association, and Hawaii Army National Guard and U.S. Army veteran during the Vietnam War. Pakaualani “Paka” “Gene” Kahooilimoku Namahoe, 90 of Hilo died Oct. 16 at Life Care Center in Hilo. Born in Hilo, he was a retired ticket agent for Hawaiian Airlines and U.S. Army veteran during Korean War. Visitation 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Evan Olins, 84, of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 23 in Kona Community Hospital. He and wife, Gwen, moved their family from California to Kona in 1979 where they opened Flamingo’s and later Hula Heaven. He contributed to many books on Hawaiiana and they wrote “Lei in a Bottle.” Survived by wife, Gwen Olins; sons, Jon Timothy McCoy and Ethan (Anielka) Olins of Kona; daughter, Laura (Harry) Basil of Las Vegas; hanai daughter, Dana (Wesley) Mattos of Kona; three grandsons, three granddaughters and a great-granddaughter.
