Easterly winds of 24-35 mph are expected with gusts higher than 5- mph.
“Winds this strong can tear off shingles, knock down tree branches, blow away tents and awnings and make it difficult to steer, especially for drivers of high profile vehicles,” the warning states.
Those outdoors in windy conditions are also urged to watch out for falling tree branches when walking or driving, make sure tents and awnings are secure or take them down and to be prepared for power outages.
With the current drought conditions, wildfires can also be quickly spread by the winds.
With the gale warning, mariners are advised that operating a vessel in gale conditions requires experience and properly equipped vessels.
It is highly recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.
