The Big Island Candies Hilo Bay Classic high school soccer tournament starts today and will run through Sunday.
Matches will be played at the Waiakea and Amauulu fields. Participants include Konawaena High, Waiakea High, Hawaii Preparatory Academy, Hilo High, Kamehameha Schools – Hawai‘i and Kauai High.
“The Big Island Candies Hilo Bay Classic is the longest running soccer tournament in East Hawaii that features exciting high school soccer,” said Director Troy Keolanui.
Action will kick off at 3:30 p.m. today at the Waiakea field, with Waiakea HS facing off against Kauai.
Games consist of 35 minute halves — unless 40 minutes is agreed to before the kick off by both coaches and the TD. There will be no standings or champion. There will be a sportsmanship winner in both girls and boys divisions, decided by the referees.
