A magnitude-4.9 earthquake rattled the Big Island early this evening.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the temblor struck at 5:53 p.m. and was centered 8 miles south-south east of Volcano and was a half-kilometer in depth.
The quake was felt in downtown Hilo but there were no immediate reports of damage.
