Kenneth Masao Kubo, 89, of Hilo died Nov. 12 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hakalau, he was a retired licensed practical nurse/emergency medical technician for Hilo Medical Center, had worked at Kuakini Medical Center on Oahu, Hawaii Army National Guard veteran and member of Waiakea Baptist Bible Church, Hawaii County Nutrition Program and Yamaguchi Kenjinkai. Benjamin K. Raymond, 86, of Kapaau died Nov. 26 at home. Born in North Kohala, he was a retired laborer for the former Kohala Sugar Co. and Dicks Construction, Pankow Construction, Hawaii Dredging and Goodfellow Brothers, retired worker for Kohala Nursery, U.S. Marine Corps veteran and member of Kohala Senior Citizens Club, a founding leader of Hui Mamalahoa and was involved in numerous North Kohala baseball and basketball organizations.
