The state’s only interisland ocean cargo company notified its customers on Monday its Hilo facilities were closed “until further notice” because of a “maltunction in our facilities’ fire suppresssion system.”
According to the state Department of Transportation, the Coast Guard and HFD accepted a plan submitted by DOT to implement temporary measures to address the malfunction.
YB said the port will open early at 6:30 a.m. today.
Cargo acceptance and pick-up availability for sailings to and from the Port of Hilo will return to its normal schedule for the remainder of the week.
