Kealakehe High’s boys soccer team shut out Waiakea High 3-0 on Wednesday afternoon in Hilo.

The Waveriders’ victory showed that good things come in threes, as they moved to a 3-0 record.
The Warriors fell to 0-1-1, and will continuing chasing their first regular season win at 4 p.m. today at Ken Yamase Memorial Stadium, facing Hawai‘i Preparatory Academy (1-2).
Kealakehe’s next pitch appearance will be 4 p.m. Saturday across the South Kona district line at Konawaena High (1-1).
On Tuesday, Waiakea will end its four-game homestead with a match against Konawaena, then will face Kealakehe again on Dec. 21 for its last outing of the calendar year.
The Waveriders’ final 2023 matchup will be Dec. 23 at home against Honoka‘a High (0-1-1).

KONAWAENA 11 – MAKUA LANI 2
Konawaena boys soccer earned its first win of the year over local rival Makua Lani on Wednesday at Julian R. Yates Field — routing the Lions 11-2 in mercy-rule fashion.
The top scorer for Konawaena was Eric Glende with two goals.
Brian Keana’aina, Keoni Catahara, Samuel Nakamoto and Skye Oyama also each scored goals for Konawaena during Wednesday’s matchup.
Konawaena (1-1-0) will head across town to play Kealakehe at 4 p.m. Saturday at Waverider Stadium. The Lions (0-2-0) host Honoka‘a at 3 p.m. this afternoon at Old Airport.
That will be Makua Lani’s final matchup before the new year.
